Part one of a sensual, chance encounter between Ethan and Diane in a cafe on a rainy day. Ethan observed the ebony beauty a few days prior to summoning enough courage to approach her. Will Diane shoot him down, or does she accept his invitation to a Friday night dinner?

Part One

Diane made her way through the heavy downpour of October rain during her lunch break on a Thursday afternoon. For the fourth day in a row, she sought solace in the little café across the street from her office on Lombard Street. Once inside, she shook the rain from her umbrella and stepped in line to obtain her favorite choice of coffee, a Caramel Macchiato, and a fresh croissant to accompany it. After paying for her purchases, she ventured over to her favorite spot.

Freeing herself from her damp coat, she glanced outside to observe the hustle and bustle of the crowded street. The pouring rain mingled with the engines of taxis buses, cars, and trucks that traveling up and down Lombard Street. People rushed, in an effort to reach their destination in spite of the pouring rain.

Diane settled into her seat, noticing the handsome blond man sitting in the third table facing in her direction. On every visit to the café, he was there, and always greeted her with a smile and a nod when she arrived. For some unknown reason, she loved how he acknowledged her arrival. It was as though he were waiting for her. His smile was warm and inviting, and he appeared to study her. She also observed the distant look he possessed within those mystical blue eyes of his.

“I’m Ethan,” the blond man said, looking in her direction with those sparkling blue eyes. “And you are—

“I’m Diane.”

“How's your day going, so far? His alluring, penetrating gaze captured her. There was something unique about him, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

“Yes, my office is busy, so I come here to collect my thoughts. Up until a few days ago I sat in one of the guest offices trying to enjoy a good book and my lunch, but somehow, folks seemed to discover my hiding spots. Folks just don’t seem to comprehend that an admin needs time to herself.”

“I agree with you there. Sometimes people just don’t think.” He smiled at her before taking a sip of his coffee. “Mind if I join you?” He raised a blond brow, awaiting her answer.

“Sure.” Diane gulped before taking a swig of her coffee. Her palms grew sweaty and her heart thudded against her ribcage. She shifted in her chair and crossed her legs. Ethan aroused her and she hoped he had not noticed. He was handsome, tall and he wore his blond hair in a ponytail. He was dressed professionally in a white button down shirt and black dress pants. His black leather trench was old and worn, she noticed.

Ethan appeared to be somewhere around his late thirties, had fine smile lines, and crow’s feet. His trim sideburns adorned his tight, squared jaw. Something caught her attention, something she had never noticed until now. He was blind. Biting off a piece of her croissant, she noticed that as he rose to his feet, his left hand reached for a black cane with a gold lion’s head. With his right hand, he gracefully picked up his cup of coffee. Without a problem, he made his way over to Diane’s table. Sitting the cup down, he eased himself onto the seat facing her.

At a loss for words, she shuddered as Ethan’s eyes appeared to capture her gaze, sending chills throughout her body. Her nipples swelled and her insides melted, stoking the fire between her thighs. Even though he was blind, it felt as though he was looking deep within her soul.

“You seem shocked.” Ethan grinned as his left hand tightened around the cane. Diane sensed an aura of nervousness on his behalf.

“What do you mean?” She sighed, and averted her gaze, knowing what he meant and hoped she had not offended him.

“It’s okay, you didn’t know I was blind until now.” Ethan chuckled, making her squirm in her seat. Her slit creamed and she wondered why he affected her in that manner. She averted her gaze towards the window, pretending something had captured her attention, even though she knew he was blind.

“Um—well Ethan, I’m so sorry. I would have never known, until you reached for your cane. You seem to look right at me. Actually, I thought you were deep in thought. Every time I walked in, you always acknowledged me.” Diane was ashamed over her apparent shock.

“No worries. Each time you walked in, the intoxicating aroma of your perfume caught my attention. I was gathering the courage to actually talk to you this time. Glad I did. Also, I'm familiar with the sound of your footsteps.”

“My footsteps? Ethan, there are so many people walking in and out of this café. How can—

“I can recognize your footsteps from everyone else’s because you walk in a unique way. You have a quick gait, and you drag your heels a little.”

“Oh,” Diane moaned. “I do have a horrible habit of dragging my heels. I’m so damn awful on shoes. Ethan, I still don’t know—wow, that’s amazing. You don’t even know me.” She became uncomfortable at learning how the man possessed the ability to observe certain characteristics about her.

Ethan smiled. “I’ve been blind since birth. What I lack in sight, I make up for with my other senses. Forgive me please, it wasn't my intention to make you uncomfortable.”

Diane released a breath and gripped her coffee cup with both hands, while enjoying the heat emanating from the Styrofoam cup. “Some people allow their handicap to get in the way of them functioning properly. My grandfather lost his sight in his late sixties. Years later, his health deteriorated because he never got past losing his sight. Well, to make a long story short, he gained the ability to tell the difference from paper money.”

“Well, you have to because there are some people who would cheat a blind person without remorse. Want to know a little secret? Your grandfather probably carried smaller bills in one pocket, and larger bills in the other.”

Diana covered her mouth when she laughed. It was true, Pop Pop, as she called her grandfather often had her grandmother sort his money in his wallet a certain way.

“It sounds like your grandfather fell into depression. Was he an active man?”

“Oh yes. My grandfather joined the Merchant Marines in nineteen twenty-four. He purchased his own property in nineteen-sixty nine and built a house, with his own hands. My grandmother helped. My grandfather was stubborn, always a fighter, until---

“Until he lost his sight.” Ethan completed her sentence.

“Yeah.” Diane became a little sad speaking of her grandfather.

“Well, at least he had the wonderful opportunity to see throughout most of his life. I have always felt the sun and rain on my face, but will never lay eyes on the rain. I'll never see the sun rise, or set, but that's okay, because I’m happy and healthy. What more can I ask for?” Ethan smiled and raised his coffee cup to his lips again.

“Your attitude is amazing.” Once the words escaped her lips, she noticed how her voice quivered. She gave a silent prayer Ethan would not noticed, but unfortunately, he did.

“Why are you uncomfortable?”

“Oh, Ethan.” Diane chuckled. “I’m not uncomfortable.” She was lying through her teeth. It couldn’t have been his lack of sight that made her nervous. Maybe it was the impure thoughts she was thinking, because he was simply irresistible.

“Come, now Diane.” She shuddered at those words and his mesmerizing gaze. “Be honest with me.” His voice lowered, and possessed an underlying hint of a sexual tone. Diane turned in her chair, enjoying the increasing arousal between her thighs. His scent intoxicated her, and his voice, that deep, husky voice of sent chills skittering down her spine and her core clenched. Her nipples swelled, pressing painfully against the lacy fabric of her bra. Her breath escaped her parted lips and she couldn't resist looking deep into the man’s eyes. Had he known the fire he stoked deep within her?

“Perhaps isn't my being blind that makes your voice shake?” Ethan smiled, and Diane suddenly wished she’d kept a spare pair of panties in her cubicle at work.

Ethan leaned forward with a serious gleam in his eyes and said, “I mean, from the moment I heard your voice, I’ve wanted to lick you from head to toe until you beg for more. I won't lie and say I haven't thought of making love to you until we both come together. Thoughts of you collapsing in my arms after you’ve achieved orgasm is all I can think of since I’ve noticed you. Sorry, but those are my feelings."

Her jaw dropped as Ethan’s words stunned and aroused her all in one setting. How the hell could he be so forward? She knew he was aware of the effect he had on her. He was also aware that he was at fault for her loss of words. She could only ascertain this because of the seductive gleam in those icy blue eyes of his.

                                                                       * * * *

Ethan’s cock stirred as he listened to Diane’s irregular breathing. He wanted her from the moment he noticed her a few days ago. It was unlike him to allow a woman to creep into his thoughts during the course of the day. To him, she was not just some woman. There was much more to her and he wanted to discover what that was. He was determined not to let her slip through his fingers.

His tongue twitched, and his cock hardened as the faint hint of her musky fragrance and perfume flirted within his nostrils. His mouth watered as he imagined tasting and teasing her slick, engorged flesh. He wondered what she would taste like. He was sure she was beautiful because, to him, her voice was perfection; like the sweetest music he’d ever heard. Ethan knew he was taking a chance, and hoped she wouldn't shoot him down.

                                                                      * * * *

“Why would you say something like that to me?” Diane cocked her head to the side, observing the man. He didn’t appear to be some sicko psycho who preyed upon unsuspecting women, at least she hoped he wasn’t. She seriously pondered the idea of meeting him somewhere, only if he asked. She did not want to appear wanton.

“Because, I know we would enjoy each other’s company. Mind if I have your phone number, or take mine, if that makes you feel more comfortable. Not trying to disrespect you in any way. I just would like to enjoy your company, and get to know you.”

Diane looked towards the counter, trying to steal enough time to think. She then glanced at her watch, there was at least half an hour of her lunch break left before she had to return to the office. “Ethan—I

“Tomorrow is Friday, come to dinner with me.” His voice was magnetizing, yet demanding, and Diane loved it. She wanted to know what type of lover he’d be. She swallowed hard, trying to dislodge the knot in her throat. Ethan was a breath of fresh air. Although she sensed a perfect gentleman, he was so bold. From the look in his eyes, she knew he’d please her until she climbed the walls. A decision had to be made now. She sipped her coffee as something deep within her prompted her to take her phone out of her purse.

“Yes, I would love to go to dinner with you.” Wasting no time, she programmed Ethan’s cell and home number into her phone. She smiled at the possibilities that were facing them both tomorrow. It had been quite some time since she’d dated. “I’m looking forward to this.”

“I’m looking forward to this as well. Diane, I must say, you have a beautiful smile.” Ethan spoke to her with a straight face.

“How did you know I was smiling?” Diane was shocked. Other than her grandfather who’d passed a few years ago, she really had never been around a blind person, let alone, someone she experienced a deep attraction to. Perhaps that was the reason she felt uneasiness around Ethan.

“I could hear it in your voice.” Ethan’s features were relaxed, and a hint of curiosity splashed across his face. “May I see what you look like?” Ethan laid the cane on the floor and leaned on the table, waiting for her permission.

Heat raced through Diane’s veins as she discovered he wanted to feel her facial features. She yearned for his touch. Looking around, she noticed there were only a few other people in the café. “I suppose.” She sucked in a breath as Ethan gently placed his hands on her face. His hands cupped her face, and his thumbs brushed over her forehead and down the length of her nose. His index fingers explored her eyelids and temples as Diane shivered. His touch was electrifying, and sensual. He brushed her skin, lightly teasing, while stirring strong feelings within her. Ethan continued his exploration along her cheekbones, and towards her earlobes.

“You’re so beautiful. I love your high cheekbones.” Ethan’s voice grew raspy and he caressed her cheek with his right hand. The other hand allowed his fingers to brush against her quivering lips. Gently, he traced the outline of her mouth, and traveled beneath her jawbone, where he gently stroked her chin. There was no doubt, she was like putty in his hands once Ethan had completed exploring her face.

“Why did you do that?” Diane was breathless, and she yearned for this touch to gravitate along the length of her neck, and continue further down her body. A part of her would risk being late for work to reap the rewards of his touch.

Diane watched his full lips as he spoke. “As I said before, you are a beautiful woman, inside and out. I better not touch you again, or we both might do something we’ll regret.” She bit her lips and closed her eyes, savoring his seductive words.

“What do you do?” Ethan asked, after clearing his throat.

“I’m a receptionist over at Farber’s.” Diane cleared her throat and shifted in the chair, feeling the saturated panties molding themselves against her soft folds. Even though Ethan was blind, she felt the need to hide her facial expressions from him. She wished they both could wander off somewhere and surrender to their deepest passions. For the remainder of their time together, they spoke as though they were old friends. Diane cringed when she realized her lunch hour had ended.

“I’m sorry, I must get back to the office.” She didn’t want him to feel as though she were giving him the brush off. Ethan smiled as she rose to her feet, and put her coat on. He rose as well, reaching out for her hand.

“It was a pleasure to meet you Diane.” Her heart sank when Ethan lowered his head and planted a soft, gentle kiss on the back of her hand. Those lips of his shot fire through her body, and she completely lost it. God, how long had it been since she had a man? Ethan had her on the brink of a much needed climax.

“It was nice to meet you too, Ethan.” Diane was panting, and she didn’t care to hide it from him. She wanted him, just as much as he wanted her.

“Then, I shall see you tomorrow?” Ethan’s gaze pierced her soul once again…
