I receive questions from readers all of the time asking “Where do you get your characters?”

Answer: Easy! I look at the people around me, I look at my life, tap my friend’s personalities and research. For the most part all of my characters are composites of several different people however there is one that isn’t, let’s see if you can figure out which one it is.

Depending on how you look at it, either my inner circle of friends is a rich tapestry of unique individuals or a mixed bag of nuts. Either way they supply an endless bounty of material.

The second most asked question/comment I hear is “What about Nick and Ali. Where did they begin?”

Answer: Nick and Ali’s story began as a bi-weekly column in the newsletter that grew into a beast of its own. Readers fell in love with them and I received tons of emails asking me to tell their story from the beginning. One and a half years later Seduce Me was born, this is their story. It’s my first full length novel so I hope you enjoy and keep looking out for more new books to follow. I enjoy reading your ideas and feedback so please email me and let me hear what’s on your mind.

Question number three: “I’m new to the interracial fiction genre and just read one of your short stories. Where can I find your past columns and what subcategories do you explore:”

Answer: I will be posting my old stories from my newsletter days on this my site in the very near future so keep an eye out for those. I also plan on welcoming any neo-writers to post on the site as well. Help me, help you…J

My writings have explored almost every subcategory in IR fiction there is. I’ve even tossed in some S&M but only the light stuff. As my character Edward once said, “I’m not flogging anyone.” My first two novels are BW/WM based however in book three I will be changing things up a bit.

Question number four: “You use humor in your stories, that’s unusual in IR fiction.”

Comment: I’m a happy person; I can see humor in almost anything. The reason I use humor in my stories is this helps readers to get to know the characters by bring the characters full circle; making them three dimensional rather than flat. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard, “Oh my God, that was so Edward!” or “I almost pissed myself when Nick said…”

That’s what I love! I want my readers to be able to indentify the characters by what they would say. Quick example, when Nick joked with Edward about being self absorbed Edward’s reply was…

“I know! It’s brutal being this good looking only to be wasted on some repulsive woman that I will never really care for. Meanwhile you will be happily married into one of the best family’s on the planet and I will be stuck with a chatty Father-in-Law. But the upside to that is I’ll never have to prove that I love his daughter, it’s a given…I won’t love her! It will all end in one massive dry hump. Yep, money can’t buy you love but a **** will get you a pretty good replica.”

Immediately my readers know that Nick wouldn’t say something like that…it could only come from our boy Eddie!

Well that’s all I have for now. Chat soon!
