Shopping with the ladies
Hello again! Friday after work two of my friends and I decided to pay a visit to a local novelty store to do a little research for my upcoming book. My friend, who also happen to be a fellow scribbler, and I were determined to introduce our other friend to the world of erotica. Going into this I was under the assumption that a general understanding of the genre was a given….I was wrong.
Somewhere between the stockings and the lube we lost her. Then it hit me. Maybe the reason why some people shy away from erotica or sex in general is because they don’t understand it and having Puritan based belief that anything dealing with sexually is bad being shoved down our throats they probably don’t feel comfortable talking about it in the first place. Could these be the very same people who criticize and make blanket statements about our genre?
Off the cuff my answer would be yes however giving it more thought I’d have to say maybe. My hapless friend isn’t a critic or a prude….she simply never had anyone to introduce her to the realm before I came crashing into her life. The point to all of this is when talking to others about erotica remember to be patient and don’t take anything a cynic says personally. Chat them up and pull them to the dark side slowly….
