The idea that renewing our vows would be as easy as pushing on an open door is quickly looking like a total misconception.
I have no vows, no music, no food, no venue, and scarcely any patience. On the flip side, I have a gorgeous dress being made. Yay!
At this point, we’re considering tearing a page from our first play book and having everything held in one place: an inn or the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay. They take care of everything…you just point and it’s done! We went to see Lalah Hathaway there a few years ago and we've loved it ever since.
Another plus is, unlike other Ritz's, Half Moon Bay has a very laid back Cali vibe going. It's still the Ritz but there's no A-hole greeting you at the door and it's not as expensive as other Ritz...but tons more beautiful. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Another option is to hold the event in Rhode Island at Greg’s family seat. Do I have to spell out the headaches that lie therein? I think not….you get the picture. I’m not taking this option from the table; I’m simply putting it on the back burner.
With my in-laws help, I’m hoping to have everything in order by the end of the month. If not, we’re having a chicken dinner here at the house. Screw it!

Yeah, I think this is the place for us. I called the wedding advisor this morning and started crying. Why the heck am I being so emotional?! Tried to pick out songs...cried. Tried to write my vows...cried. Tried to organize the dinner menu...cried.
What the heck!? It's best to let the Ritz staff handle everything. |

I'm all for Cali.....I can then crash.....*clears throat*....I mean attend! It is beautiful in Northern California. I should know, I grew up in Marin County.

Shut Up! You were right around the corner from me. We had places on Nob & Russian Hill (my folks went a little bit crazy with property. I think they were running from us). We also had a small beach house in Pacifica but my folks sold it after us kids got into a bit of trouble. It was Pam's fault! :-(
It's looking more and more like it'll be Cali. Our families are super close and the Ritz is soooo laid back...really, the staff is second to none. |

The views for the Carlton are stunning. I agree with everyone let someone else handle it this time around. Can’t believe you still haven’t put pen to paper and started those vows?!?! Shame on you ;-)but I guess after all this time together you deserve to get a bit emotional trying to express all that into words

I was just in Cali a few months ago and your right the vibe there is definatley much more relaxed and laid back than here on the east coast. I would go with your plan to renew your vows in cali

HMB is right in our backyard... and I agree, so beautiful and relaxed there at the Ritz. D & I are considering doing a potluck at home to renew our vows... but I like your idea much better.

It's beautiful. I love that it's so understated. OMG! Why am I tearing up? I have to check these emotions.

It looks beautiful Tracy, I say do it there. And nothing like having somebody else do all the work. I was going to try it at my in-laws house in a lake in Central Washington but it just looked like work and for me and I don't like that kind of work. I'm not that chick, the party planner one, so we've decided to do at beautiful restuarant on Shilshole Bay in the Puget Sound. I get someone to do all the work for me and we just write a check it's great. And I get real silverware and glasses LOL. But it meant cutting down the guest list and my future mom in law as bit disturbed but she ain't paying, so I say zip it. LOL. So it beautiful and pain and plan free, now I'm actually looking forward to it instead of having panic and anxiety attacks about it. I say go for Half Moon Bay, less drama. And we'd like to see a pic or two.

well I know I'm a little late for suggestions, extremely late, but why wouldn't you have it at The Breakers in Palm Beach? That would've been very appropriate. It was the old school WASP playground for the Railroad tycoons (my personal favorites of course), the oil barons and pretty much every other well to do type from up north. Could've been an old school 20's prohibition theme! Tommy Guns, flappers, Model A Fords... I'm just sayin'... and the plus side is the "riff raff" as the WASPs would call them, aren't allowed across the bridge!

LOL! "Riff raff"! The riff raff will be holding center stage! The Breakers isn't an option because of WASP family feuds (don't ask) and it's location. But I'll admit, Florida was on my list of top locales because it's warm. We even looked at Myrtle Beach (my brother still hasn't sold his house there).
The Ritz won...beautiful scenery, warm weather, awesome staff, and a casual vibe. I'm happy. :) |
