I have to share this nugget of fun. In some cases, this law should be enforced at gun point.
Lunatics and Idiots
As the consent of a free agent is a necessary part of the contract of marriage, it follows that the marriages of lunatics and idiots who are not capable of consenting to anything are void.
And it may be said that the marriage of an idiot is invariably void because an idiot is a person who is mentally incapable from his birth. But the marriage of a lunatic, not under a commission of lunacy, during a lucid interval is valid.
In order to support such a marriage it would be necessary to prove that there was an absence of all delusion on the part of the lunatic at the time of contracting the marriage.
In the case of a marriage by a lunatic found so by inquisition, and placed under the care and custody of the Lunacy Commissioners, the ceremony would be absolutely null and void.
The insanity of either party which does not develop till after marriage will not invalidate the contract; nor does it, at present, afford grounds for a divorce.
END MADNESS
Where, oh where do I begin?! Someone had far too much time on their hands.

Girl! 50Mil pointed out this law. I think it's from RI but I could be mistaken. Follow the link, I believe the state is listed.
In Hartford it's illegal for a man to kiss his wife on Sunday. |

Wow! That's a new way to raise state revenue. CT's desprate, you might want to keep that law on the down low.
I can just picture it now, Gov. Malloy get in front of the cameras and explains that he managed to get the state in the black by all the fines they obtained from folks they caught kissing. Wait a minute if you're not married and are caught kissing...is that a felony? Could they lock someone up for kissing their boyfriend? Damn, what about if a married couple is caught in the act of sex? Could that get them 20 to life? *smh* The insanity is endless. |

There's an actual law saying that, if you can prove someone was stupid or crazy at the time of the wedding, the marriage is null and void?
How stupid does someone have to be? Can I null and void the marriages of everybody who ever lost a signifigant chunk of savings on lotto tickets? |

Wow! My brain is still trying to recover after reading that. So according to this law I can divorce a lunatic and I'm doomed to be with an idiot for life. No wonder people didn't live long back then. They either killed the idiot they where married to or killed themselves to be out of misery! lol

Oh wait sorry I read wrong. I guess the law says you can divorce an idoit but you can't divorce a lunatic if they became a lunatic after the marriage. lol Either way I still see why people died young back then! lol
