RaeLynn Blue: Why I Love Geeks

Recently Mocha Memoirs Press released my interracial erotic romance, Rocket to Love. You have seen the cover art—a nerdy, dark-haired male sporting jeans and a somber solid, button-down shirt. Plain. Ordinary.
You probably wouldn’t see beyond the surface mundane handsome of the model. I, on the other hand, see hot, sizzling geek.

I love brilliance. I’m sure you don’t go out to a bar seeking men of lower intelligence than yourself. I’m not stating that, but, I’m not talking about your above average knowledge. I’m talking about super genius—Mensa® card carriers and all out rocket science smart.
And that’s why I love Ben Wook Sun, my hero from Rocket to Love. He’s a geek, and he knows it. Instead of shame or wallowing in the basement of his friend’s mother’s house, Ben takes pride in his intellect and his job as a rocket scientist at NASA.

Rafael Lazzini: Reformed Geek
I love geeks, partially because I am one. I’m a comic book owner/reader, science fiction/paranormal/fantasy lover and Star Trek® fanatic. Yes, pay close attention to that last—not fan, but FANATIC! Some of my loves spilled into the ink when I drew up Ben. It’s no wonder all his friends call him Wookie, linking his love for both Star Trek and Star Wars into his very Korean middle name.
But, I digress. I love geeks for one single reason—brilliance is hot.
Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself at Mocha Memoirs Press.

like Zetta said: the geek shall inherit the earth' and I agree. Intelligence is a terrible gift to waste and I prefer someone who is both book and people smart. Love your stories Ms. Blue, looking forward to more collaboration with Ms. Azod.

Say it loud! Say it proud! And be ready for a fight on who's the best Star Trek Leader.
(Sisko, by the way. Isn't a slut like Kirk, doesn't pretend to be emotionless like Picard, doesn't regularly violate the basic sentient rights of his crew like Janeway, and just plain isn't Captain Archer... And he punched Q.) We geeks (of both genders) have been doign more work pushing civilization forward for less credit than any other group. This has been going on ever since one geek spent his hours between hunting and sleeping by experimenting with rocks until he made the wheel. Or since another geek spent her hours looking at where the plants grew after certain fruits dropped and figured she'd try planting a few herself and invented agriculture. Then, they got together and, in true geekly courtship, tackled that whole fire connundrum together. Oh sure, everybody made fun of them for not playing/watching games of "club each other to death", but nobody after even knew how they lived before those inventions. This didn't stop them from making fun of the next generational geek who worked on domesticating animals. |

OMG I'm so not a trekkie, but i'm married to one and i'm totally crushing on your post. Benjamin Sisko (HAWK) is the business...the absolute business. You totally nailed the other captains...alghough Picard when he was Locutius (spelling?) was awesome.

Like I said on my FB status "The geek shall inherit the earth..." and what WingedBeast said is true. Geeks have either invented or bankrolled most of the technical/scientific/othe r advances we have today or will tomorrow.
And some geeks are terribly sexy. He may not be a "geek" but I LOVE Cmdr Data =D |

A. Social difficulties, likes statistics, interested in odd things. Yeah, Data is a geek.
B. I think Data has gotten more nookie in the minds of 90% of female viewers and 10% of male viewers than any other character. Tasha Yarr's death just might have been the result of the consentraited jealousy of half of TNG's viewership. It wasn't fair, too. Tasha Yarr was a woman who was smart, feminine, and could handle herself in combat, so she should have been mine. |
