Dahlia Rose: I Heart The Military!

Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine! Semper Fidelis (Always faithful) and Oooh Rah!! That’s how I like them, big, strong, and dressed in their advance combat uniforms (ACUs) or the crisp blue colors of their formal wear. They wear each Medal of Honor and accomplishment pinned on their chest with heads hell high to serve their country with honor and respect. They’re alpha male and will break down any wall and fight any battle to get their woman and make her theirs. They are the few, the proud, the military. This is how I see them in my mind when I create each story that that brings a heroine our heroine who signed up in the arm forces to the readers.
I’ve been asked more than once how I create such emotions and accurate description to each of my military books. It’s easy I lived while my man was in Iraq. I felt the pride, the anxiety and fear with each email from overseas. And the joy of each word of love we uttered by writing or on the phone. We’re married now and my stepson took the biggest step one could make in their lives, he joined the Marines. In only a few short weeks I can see the change in him. The values they instilled in his only intensified those his father taught him. Before my eyes he went from a smart aleck boy to a man who saw things differently. Through the eyes of a soldier. He is taking this in stride and even though when he was still a teen and swore the military was not his calling. He has said he could see himself doing nothing else. Like his dad he took to the uniform and the pride it instilled like a duck to water. It doesn’t mean we still don’t fear the day if ever gets deployed.
I write these stories for my husband and his friends those who came home and those who were lost. I write the stories for the tears we’ve all shed and for the post traumatic stress they all struggle with still today. I want to give a voice to those who were left unsupported to combat issues that loved ones should have been there to help them through the hard times.
In my books I show the issues they face but also how they love and comfort of a devoted person can give them some peace. Sometimes all it takes for affectionate arms to hold them at night to chase away the nightmares that plague them. I wish with all my heart I could give them all the happy ever after I write in my books. But since I can’t I honor them in the only way I know how.
The thing that makes me smile is regardless of if I send my books overseas through the USO or give them to our military friends to read. They always ask the same question. “Um about those sex scenes, do you guys put into play what you write?” I laugh out loud and say hell yes! Why wouldn’t I practice what I preach?”
Some of my favorite books to write were the past few which were released. Dear Santa, Toy Soldiers and Star Spangled Valentines, and Gypsy Moon. Each one actually made me shed some tears as I wrote them and Army Beast coming up March 12th with Sugar and Spice gave me a mix of the military aspect I love with another favorite of mine the paranormal. Is there anything better than a hot sexy soldier who is part Arapaho Indian and who shifts into a panther? *Tapping finger to chin* Hmmm I think not! Oh and as a tempting teaser, All romance e-book has the prequel teaser to Army Beast in their Just One Bite free reads. It’s in volume two just look for “Salute your Shifter “and you will see how the army beasts got started.
My readers are fabulous and as the years went by I have met some amazing authors who have become close friends. Regardless on which side of the table we sit author or reader, we all love books and I ask one thing. Support the Troops. Donate your books to go overseas if you are an author its tax deductible and add in some promo goodies and candy.
It doesn’t have to stop there, socks, toiletries, phone cards they need it all. They love a treat from home and the letters they return to you show their appreciation. It’s easy to do, find your local Army recruiter or USO. They will take any donations you give them or give you information on how to send them on.
I’m Dahlia Rose and I heart my military men! I fall in love with each of my soldier characters and I hope you can too! And my darlings, there is more. I will be sending the fabulous Ms. Tracy Ames a copy of Home for the Holidays, a print trilogy of my holiday military shorts and a fresh from the printer copy of Army Beasts when it is released. I leave it up to her on how they will be given out to you her fabulous readers.

Dahlia, a war was about to start because I, VJJ misread your title thought it said I hate the military sorry. Like you I have a special place set aside for those men in uniform. Every 6 months I adopt a Marine (because their living conditions are usually the worst, and since my next hubby may be a Navy SEAL, if I support the Marine indirectly I’ll support the Navy) through anysolider.com and send parcels to him/her each month. I do not get a tax deduction for this but this is the best way I can let those guys know they’ve got my support 110%.
And girl please do not post pic like that without warning, almost licked my screen Thanks for this blog |

Judy, LMAO! That is a great cause-I am going to look into it. Can someone please explain to me why we don't roll out the red carpet for our armed forces? I think if you put yourself in harms way for your country, when you come back that country should let you want for nothing. *okay off my soap box*

I don't why they dont roll out the red carpet..My man has been home for years and I still think he is the cats meow. he got hit by three IEDs and still made it home to me. I cant stand to look at his helmet we stillhave because it has the burn mark of a bullet that almost hit him. His back is messed up and I worry about him when he is outside trying to cut tree branches.. LOL but alot of them come home to so much stress and never hear a thank you. I go to the VA with my hubby with cookies and treats for them all on occasion.
I abhor the Westboro chruch for preaching hate at their grave sites when familes are there to grieve for loved ones lost. So to have more people supporting the troops people Like my guy. it makes me proud ot know my readers see them how I see them when i write my books. True p roud men and women who fight for thier contry in places none of us could dream of ever going. |
